Delivery of Generators and Emergency Energy Support to Ukraine

About

In response to the ongoing energy crisis in Ukraine caused by Russia’s systematic attacks on civilian energy infrastructure, the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova implemented a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting critical infrastructure and essential public services during the winter period.

On 4 March 2026, a shipment of generators was delivered from the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine as part of the “Warmth for Ukraine” campaign. The initiative was implemented in Moldova by the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova. The campaign was conducted from 29 January to 13 February 2026 and mobilized civil society, businesses, media organizations, and individuals around a common objective: providing urgent energy assistance to Ukraine amid continuing attacks on its power infrastructure.

As a result of the campaign, more than 481,918 Moldovan lei (equivalent to over 1.2 million Ukrainian hryvnias) were raised, enabling the procurement and delivery of generators of various capacities. In total, 17 generators were transferred to Ukraine, including seven additional units contributed by the Moldova Fruct Association.

This campaign also marked the first public fundraising initiative of the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova that mobilized individual donations from the wider community. The initiative demonstrated a broad level of civic solidarity in the Republic of Moldova, bringing together private citizens, civil society actors, and representatives of the business sector. The response of Moldovan businesses, including the contribution of additional generators by the Moldova Fruct Association, illustrated the readiness of the private sector to support humanitarian efforts aimed at assisting Ukraine during the ongoing energy crisis.

The energy equipment will be transferred to the State Institution “Center of Maternity and Childhood of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” and to the Sumy Regional Military Administration. The generators will support the uninterrupted operation of hospitals, schools, and other socially critical institutions in the region, ensuring access to electricity during power outages and strengthening the resilience of essential public services.

The fundraiser is organized by the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova in partnership with the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova. Logistical support for the delivery was provided by Nova Post Moldova, while media partners TVR Moldova, Nokta, and Vocea Basarabiei Radio/TV ensured nationwide information outreach for the campaign.
