About
The NCUM is implementing the project “Pathways to Belonging: Strengthening Migrant and Refugee Integration in Moldova.” The initiative is supported by the European Union and the Municipality of Prague 5 and implemented by People in Need in cooperation with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) under the Migration Partnership Facility.
The project addresses the growing integration challenges faced by refugees and migrants in Moldova as humanitarian assistance decreases and many families begin transitioning toward long-term stability. Despite the availability of services and support mechanisms, many individuals remain unaware of existing opportunities or face barriers related to language, employment, and access to information.
To respond to these challenges, the initiative combines three complementary components. A nationwide information campaign will improve access to reliable information about available services, rights, and opportunities. At the same time, a pilot “Deep Dive Integration” program at the Ukrainian House in Chișinău will provide comprehensive integration support for refugees and migrants, including advanced Romanian language training, employment support, and assistance with childcare and school enrolment.
In addition, the project will offer an Accounting and Financial Literacy Course designed for refugees and migrants with professional backgrounds in finance and related fields. The training will support participants in adapting their expertise to Moldova’s legal and fiscal system and facilitate their integration into the local labour market. Through these combined efforts, the initiative aims to strengthen inclusion, resilience, and long-term self-reliance of refugees and migrants while promoting social cohesion in Moldova.
