About
This infrastructure-focused project prioritized the reconstruction of the gymnasium hall at Taras Shevchenko Gymnasium in Chișinău, with the generous support of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova. The intervention addressed critical safety and structural concerns, transforming the sports facility into a secure, accessible, and fully operational space that meets national safety standards and child protection requirements.
The rehabilitation works significantly improved the physical learning environment, ensuring safe conditions for sports activities, physical education classes, and extracurricular programs. By restoring the gymnasium hall, the project enhanced students’ access to structured physical activity, which is essential for their physical health, psychosocial well-being, and overall development.
Beyond infrastructure, the intervention contributes to strengthening institutional resilience and service delivery capacity. The upgraded facility enables the school to safely accommodate a larger number of students, including displaced Ukrainian children, thereby supporting their integration into Moldova’s education system in a dignified and sustainable manner.
Through this targeted reconstruction effort, the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova advances its commitment to inclusive education, community resilience, and the protection and well-being of children affected by displacement.
